Glenn Miller - Reykjavík Jazz Festival
Glen-Miller-bandThe Glenn Orchestra is without a doubt the most legendary jazz orchestra in history. It's repertoire pinpoints the time when pop music and jazz where one and the same. Songs like "In the Mood" or "Moonlight Serenade" confirm this sentiment.

The Reykjavik Big Band starts of its residency in Harpa Concert Hall with a tribute to this fantastic band. Thor Breidfj0rd (National Theater's star of Les Miserables) in the role of singers Tex Beneke and Ray Eberle, local favorite female singing group Borgardætur as The Andrews Sisters and an Icelandic version of the male quartet The Moderneers.

Kitchen´s Nepalese dishes originate predominantly in the Newari cuisine, praised for its rich taste as well as for its dietary benefits. The menu designed by the executive chef Deepak Panday contains tasty tandoor (clay oven grill ) specialities,delicious meat, fish or vegetarian main courses that can be combined with one of the various kinds of rice or freshly baked naan bread as well as a variety of homemade desserts. All meals are carefully prepared using fresh Icelandic products in combination with an unique blend of spices imported from Nepal and India.

Fish Market is housed in one of the central Reykjavík's oldest buildings. Head Chef Hrefna Rósa Sætran of the Icelandic National Culinary team has designed a menu using the freshest fish and meat of the season, cooking it simply in modern style.

Guests can watch each dish being prepared in the open kitchen, which has the country's only robata grill, or sit at the raw bar where the chefs create exotic dishes.

The Grill Market


The Grill Market is based on clese collaboration with farmers all across Iceland giving personal advice regarding their produce for all the food.  The Grill Market´s chefs, who are among Iceland´s finest, take the ingredients and use them to make unique and often surprising dishes ranging from vegetarian meals to reblooded steaks.  Further enhancing the natural experience smoke, fire, wood and coal is used.  The Grill Market, which opened earlier this year, is located at the heart of the city center in an historical building from 1920, originally built as a cinema.  The contemporary decor is inspired by Icelandic tradition and nature, featuring natural wook, fish leather and lava.

Food and Fun 2012, 29.feb - 4.march
The 11th Food and Fun Festival will be here in Reykjavik, Iceland from 29.2.2012 to 4.3.2012.

In total it will be 17 restaurants participating including 5 new places. Each restaurant will welcome a foreign master chef to it´s kitchen, who will be competing for the annual "Food and Fun Chef Of The Year of 2012", which has become a well-known title throughout the culinary world.
